The Gene Fuhrman Scholarship is in dedication of the beloved Gene, the son of Alvin and Gracie Fuhrman, who own Nortex Communications.
There will be two winners awarded a one-time $2,000 and $1,500 scholarship.
Eligibility
Each applicant must:
The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), in cooperation with NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, seeks to sustain and enhance the quality of life in America by advancing an understanding of rural issues. Through its various programs and initiatives, FRS strongly supports the continuing education of rural youth.
For each FRS general scholarship, FRS provides $2,000 and NORTEX COMMUNICATIONS, the sponsoring NTCA member company provides $500. Submitting one application for FRS is also sufficient eligibility for these additional named scholarships:
• Diana Jo Dryer Memorial Scholarship – Sponsored by INDATEL Services
• Everett Kneece Scholarship
• Sarah Tyree Good Neighbor Scholarship
• Herbert and Isabel Bitz Memorial Scholarship
• JSI Scholarships
• TMS Scholarships
• Roger Cox Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility
Each applicant must:
• Be a graduating high school senior
• Be a United States citizen
• Be sponsored by NORTEX COMMUNICATIONS, a current NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association member. As a sponsor, Nortex will be verifying that you receive at least one of their local services: Internet, TV, Phone
• Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school
• Have at least a C grade point average (GPA)
• Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation
